Our Services:

The Social Work Department at GCHS provides targeted and intensive support through Tier 2 and Tier 3 services. Tier 1 services, which are universal interventions, are offered and documented by the School Guidance Counselor.

• Tier 1 Services (Provided by the Guidance Counselor): Universal interventions available to all students, designed to promote a positive school environment and address common issues. 

• Examples: School-wide positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), general counseling sessions on topics like conflict resolution or stress management.

• Tier 2 Services (Provided by the Social Worker): Targeted group interventions for students who need additional support beyond what is provided in Tier 1.
  
• Examples: Small group counseling on social skills, attendance improvement programs, and targeted behavioral interventions.

• Tier 3 Services (Provided by the Social Worker): Intensive, individualized support for students facing significant challenges.
• Examples: One-on-one counseling, individualized behavior plans, and intensive interventions for students with chronic absenteeism or severe behavioral issues.

Referral Process:

Step 1: Teachers and staff submit referrals to the School Guidance Counselor for Tier 1 support.

Step 2: After the Guidance Counselor provides counseling and documents interventions, if more intense support is needed, the student can be referred to RTI/MTSS for Tier 2 or Tier 3 services.

Step 3: The Social Work Department implements Tier 2 or Tier 3 interventions, collaborating closely with the student, family, and staff to create a tailored support plan.
